Welcome to the website for Co. Roscommon VEC

The role of Roscommon VEC is the provision of an inclusive range of educational services throughout the county of Roscommon, adapting to meet the needs of the community. Services administered by the VEC and approved by the Department of Education and Science, include Post Primary Education which is provided in three Community Colleges. Adult Education, where seven centres of further education offer full and part time courses.  Literacy Support and Youth Support Services, Community Education is provided in a variety of locations throughout Co. Roscommon.  We deliver full time education to over 1,000 students.  Part time student enrolments are in excess of 2,000.

VEC Colleges

There are three Community Colleges in the region:

Roscommon Community College is managed under the auspices of its Board of Management and Roscommon VEC.

The College was purpose built in 1983 and has a catchment area of approximately 15 mile radius. The College is a mixed non-denominational establishment and caters for both rural and urban-based students.
The academic programmes offered in the College are: Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, LCVP, LCA and PLC FETAC Level Five. Read More »

Abbey Community College opened in September 2002 following the amalgamation of Scoil Chriost an Ri, St Mary’s College and Boyle Vocational School.

Abbey Community College/Coláiste na Mainistreach is a co-educational community college operating under the trusteeship of Co. Roscommon Vocational Education Committee.

The school is managed by a Board of Management. There is also a Board of Governors consisting of one representative of the Mercy Order, one representative of the Diocese of Elphin and one V.E.C. member. Read More »

The school serves the rural hinterland surrounding Elphin. The catchment for Elphin stretches for a radius of five miles.
