The Adult Basic Education Service is available to any adult in the county who needs to improve basic skills: Communications (reading, writing, spelling), Maths, I.T.

• Certification is  available but not compulsory (FETAC Levels 1-3)
• This service is Free and Confidential.
• Teaching is in a small group, with teachers who are trained to work with adults, in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
• Classes are arranged (day or evening) at a time and place convenient for the student.
• The ABE service provides support for people on VTOS, Youthreach and other Adult Education courses.

• Literacy and numeracy – Computer skills – Personal Development and are free of charge.

Other courses:

• ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)   Next registration January 2013
• Skills for Work (Communications/Computers) (available to people in part-time or full-time employment  who do not have a Leaving Certificate)   By arrangement – Contact Briege Fullam

Small groups, friendly and informal atmosphere, certification available but not compulsory.

Attendance is 2-10 hours weekly and does not affect Social Welfare benefits.

Students have access to the Guidance and Information Service.
