Mission Statement

To foster the full Educational and development of each student/trainee 
in a conducive environment, in preparation for a more positive future.

The READ Centre, Lisnamult, Roscommon opened its doors on the 15th November 2001.  
The building was finally completed in March 2002 and was officially opened by Mary Harney on 22nd April 2002.  
The centre caters for 24 trainees both male and female.  

The range of subjects that we offer are as follows Maths, Communications, Literacy, English,  Computer Literacy, Personal Development, Childcare, 
Food and Nutrition, Food and Cookery, Art, Ceramics, Textiles, Stain-Glass, Copper-work, Woodwork, Metalwork, 
Enamelling, Jewellery- making, French, and Irish.

 

Subjects are currently taken on F.E.T.A.C. Foundation and Level 1 courses and Leaving Cert Applied

The centre also networks with other educational, voluntary and statutory organisations in the promotion of holistic educational and personal development of students

Extra Curricula activities include work with the local radio station, Roscom and a play with students in transition year from the local convent.

An advocate is available to students two days per week.

A drama production involving the transition year students at the Convent of Mercy
Gaisce The President's Award
Derek McGowan Jeweller (enterprise workshop)
In-house magazine "Gimmer"
Swimming/Life saving skills
Local radio programme "Roscom radio"
Safe Pass training
National traveller art competition organised by NATC
